Wesley Cunningham, APC

Therapist
Hi, I’m Wes Cunningham, MA, APC, and I’m passionate about helping children and families thrive.
Originally from Tennessee, I earned my BA in Psychology from Carson-Newman University and later completed a MA in Marriage and Family Counseling at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary while serving at a Children’s Home in Fort Worth, TX.
For more than 25 years, I’ve worked to improve outcomes for children and families through roles in foster care and church-based settings. Today, I specialize in play therapy, creating a safe and supportive environment where children can build confidence, develop self-control, and learn emotional regulation. My goal is to help them form a healthy worldview that values everyone within the family system.
I also use a solution-focused approach, drawing on the strengths of individuals and families to support their goals and create meaningful, lasting change. I believe every child deserves a space to heal and grow, and I consider it an honor to walk alongside families on that journey.
When I’m not working, you’ll often find me spending time with my wife and children, exploring the outdoors, hiking, and discovering new coffee shops. I also enjoy reading, music, and soccer, which helps me stay grounded and a kid at heart.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me. I am ready to learn more about you and how our work together can help your life! You can find me in the schools in Dawson County working alongside our community and team members to serve the youth in our schools!
Wes is clinically supervised by Jennifer Hosea, LPC, CPCS (GA License: LPC003106), working toward independent licensure in compliance with Georgia state licensing requirements.
