Therapist
Hi!
My name is Lisa Mitchell, LMSW, and I am passionate about helping children, adolescents, and young adults navigate life's challenges while building confidence, resilience, and emotional well-being. I earned both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Social Work from the University of Georgia and have had the privilege of working with students across elementary, middle, and high school settings within the Forsyth and Dawson County school systems.
While I have extensive experience working with teens, I truly enjoy supporting children and adolescents of all ages as they learn to understand their emotions, strengthen coping skills, navigate relationships, and overcome obstacles both at school and at home. Whether your child is struggling with anxiety, self-esteem, life transitions, peer relationships, emotional regulation, or everyday stressors, my goal is to create a safe and supportive space where they feel heard, valued, and empowered.
My approach to therapy is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and person-centered therapy. I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth, healing, and positive change. In our sessions, you will find a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where all emotions—including frustration, sadness, fear, and anger—can be expressed openly and safely.
I also believe that healing can take many forms. Creativity has been an important part of my own life, and I often encourage clients to explore creative outlets as a way to process emotions, build self-awareness, and foster personal growth. Additionally, faith has played a meaningful role in my journey, and I am happy to incorporate faith-based perspectives into counseling when requested by clients and families.
When I'm not working, I love spending time with my husband and our little boy, who recently turned one. I also enjoy painting, drawing, scrapbooking, gardening, and finding creative ways to bring beauty and joy into everyday life.
I look forward to meeting you and supporting your child, teen, or family on their journey toward healing, growth, and resilience.
Lisa is under clinical supervision, working toward independent licensure in compliance with Georgia state licensing requirements.
